Amongst the compost* tions of Signor Sqnarise which will be presented at this concert is ‘ Caprice Fantastiquo ’ The Spirit of tint Waterfall’). It is written for the pianoforte, and is descriptive of how a I brook develops into a mighty stream with a tremendous waterfall, and finally wends its way to the sea. This compo-< sition gives tie performer great oppoiv tunity for a display of musical tech-' nique, and is being entrusted to the capable hands of Miss M. brasei, L.R.A.M. Another item which is being performed for the first time is romance entitled ‘ L'Addio * (. Oooct-j bye’), written for the violin with pianoforte accompaniment. It is com-* posed on the simple subject of eight bars, beginning on _ a minor key ort single notes and ending in a major keyj with chords and double stopping. iq abounds in cademzas and quick movo* merits, giving the performer great op-< portunity ter displaying technique* This composition will be performed by Miss N. Garland, L.T.C.L. Amongst the songs will be an ‘ Aye Marla torj tlie soprano voice with pianoforte and organ accompaniment. Mr T, Ritchie will officiate at the organ, and the vocalist will bo Miss Clare Dillon, wha will also be heard in ‘I Will Sing No More,’with violin obbligato, which will be played by Miss Qwenda Williams, Mr R. G. Tjapley has been entrusted with two songs taken from Signor Squarise’s comm opera, Fabian (») ‘ Come, My Sweet, To Love’s Appeal, ■ and (b) ‘I Sing of Love and Joyous Hours J This opera was composed by Signor Sqnarise and produced in Princess Theatre on November 4, lay 4, with great success, the libretto being written by Mr Donald Cargill. In the ‘ Stage Gossip ’ of that date we find that it states that the music of Fabian is indeed totally different from operas that come under that heading, in the place of jingling, sparkling melodies we have a work abounding in dreamy airs, quaint and tuneful, and as Italian m character as the scone of the opera could possibly demand. The whole of the items for this concert will be from the composition of the sooietv s conduo* tor, Signor Squarise, and the concern promises to be a most interesting one in every respect. The box plan will open at The Bristol on Tuesday next, and a limited number of 2s 6d tickets will be obtainable at The Bristol or at the theatre.
