WORLD’S BUTTER CHAMPIONSHIP

j WON BY RANGIWAHIA i | QUEENSLAND EXHIBIT SECOND i , [Peb United Press Association. ] .AUCKLAND, August 19. The world’s butter championship competition. conducted in conjunction with the Auckland Winter Exhibition, was won by Rangiwahia (Ruahine). Following are tne details of the points with the exception of those for finish, every entry being awarded 5 points in that department:—

The report of the judges was as follows *' As was to be expected, the quality of the butters from the different countries varied considerably. Sinuiar charactoristics in butters from the same country were noticeable. Halt the entries in the classes came from overseas, and many were of good quality. Although all the butters wore hold in cool storage for practically the same time before judging, this condition militated against some of the countries which are not accustomed to take butter for storage, although some pleasing exhibits were received from these countries. The first-prize butter, shown by a New Zealand factory, was of very high standard, and was closely followed by a very fine entry from Queensland. Two New Zealand exhibits came next in order of merit, and were followed by a very fine entry of Irish butter. The body and texture of a number of exhibits were hardly up to the standard of world’s championship, and the color in a number of cases was streaky.
