MACMILLAN EXPEDITION

NEW YORK, August 13,
According to a telegram from Chicago a message broadcasted from the dock of Captain MacMillan’s ship, the Peary, which is within 11 degrees of the Pole, was distinctly heard by experiment station 9XN. The voino of Lieutenant M’Donald, second in command, was heard announcing tho numbers of an Eskimo concert, nul also that of Ensign Gray giving a ra Ik on the day’s events. The message said that tho aeroplane engines werein good condition after a trial flight. The expedition had difficulty finding a base, and added that only seventeen days’ flying time were left of the Arctic summer. Another attempt would i.o made to store fuel and food at Flugler Bay, in the hope of yet carrying through the project of flying oyer the unexplored part of tho Arctic Ocean.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
