The ‘Daily Chronicle’s’ political correspondent states that Cabinet has decided that none directly interested in the mining industry, whether miner or owner, shall servo on the Commission of Inquiry. Tho Cabinet considered the preliminary list of names, but the final choice has been left to Mr Baldwin.
There will probably bo only fire or seven Commissioners, the chief consideration being tho desire to avoid what happened in the Sankey Commission, whore there wore five separate reports. The terms of reference are contained in thirty words, and loose enough to penpit the widest possible inquiry, including the nationalisation, distribution, and sale of by-products, as well as tho effect of the price of steel on other industries.—A. and N.Z.
