Mr H. J. Farrant, secretary of the Southland Court of the Big Exhibition, came up from Invercargill this morning. Mr A. A. Atmoro, ALP., passed through Dunedin this morning on his way from Invercargill to Wellington. Mr Samuel Lye, of Ncwstcad, announces himself as a candidate for the Raglan seat at the next election. Burt, who was one of the founders of iho firm ol A. and 'l'. Burt, died this morning. Deceased was a, director of the linn and its workshops manager for nearly thirty years. Ho was trained as an engineer, and as a young man had experience at, sea and in iho Railway Workshops. Up to Friday last lie enjoyed good health. On Saturday ho had a serious fall at Broad Hay, and was taken to a private hospital. He is survived by his wife and grown-up family. One of Hie sons. Gordon Burt, is at Home, and at latest advices was joining Amundsen’s expedition.
