NATIONAL PARTY CAMPAIGN
ADDRESSES AT STRATFORD [Per Unitki) Press Association.] STRATFORD, July 28. Messrs G. W. Forbes and R. Masters, members of the executive of the new Rational Party, addressed a big audience here last night, the former dealing at length with fusion history,, stressing the sincerity of the Liberals, and accusing the Prime Minister of knowingly misstating tire Rational Party’s position in a manner that no fair-minded man would have done.
Mr Masters also spoke on Mr Coates’s Palmerston North speech, which he asserted contained untrue allegations against Mr Wilford’s party, as when Mr Coates stated that the Liberals ran away from fusion because they found there were no loaves and fishes for them.
Mr Masters went on to indict the Government for waste of public money, departmental extravagance, and lack ol policy, which the National Party could remedy.
lie "urged the electors to see that every candidate pledged himself to the National Party in the interests of the welfare of the country, and as the only way to escape the dangers of the throeparty system. The following resolution was adopted without dissent 11 That this meeting thanks Messrs Forbes and Masters tor their explanation of the action ol the Liberal Party in the fusion negotiations, and welcomes the formation of a National Party, which has for its objects the ending of the three-party svstem, and the bringing together of all who wish to see a Government established that ran administer the affairs of the dominion with strength and decision; put into operation a sound policy for the development of the country’s resources and of ho social hettennent of the people. The meeting also expresses continued confidence in"Mr Masters as the representative of the electorate.
