ANDERSON RAY CLUB. The annual'meeting was held on Thursday last, when the president (Mr F. J ; Campbell) presided over a gratifying muster of members. Mr Campbell, moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, briefly commented on the operations of the past season, and reviewed the balancesheet, which showed the club to no free from debt, as there were ample funds in hand to pay off the mortgage at present encumbering their property. Tim green supervisor (Mr M'Konzie) and the greenkeoper (Mr M'lntosh) had succeeded in establishing a splendid surface, which was appreciated hy nil. Tne thanks of the club were duo to those members, and also to others who helped in the care of tho green and its surroundings, thus saving considerable expense when there was much to do to the club’s property. In the Saturday club games the club had been only moderately succcssl 11. and occiimed _ a position about halfway down tho list. Two rinks entered for the Easter tournament, one gaining third place in the finals. During this coming season more supervision would have to be exorcised over the club ties, as in tho session just completed the final of the doubles was not played, and the senior champion was not found in time to enable him to compete in t'<e cmini'inM of champions contest. Mr Campbell concluded his remarks with expression of the thanks duo to tho ladies lor valuable assistance rendered in both the social and financial affairs of the
chin. The next business dealt with was the suggestion that a social room be erected over the pavilion. The discussion regarding the pros and cons of the scheme and ways and means of meeting the expenditure was keen, and many members expressed their views on the idea, which eventually was postponed until the next annual meeting. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows;—Vacancies for two directors, Messrs Campbell and Wheeler; president, Sir J. H. Spencer; vice-pre-sident, Mr J. E. Mheeler; sccictaij, Mr A. Clatworthy; Social Committee—; Messrs Ashlon (convener), Barnes, Brain, Bennett, and Mcnzies; selectors —Messrs Campbell, Wctherbnrn, an .d Ashton; committee, Messrs M'Kenzie and Harrison; delegates to centre, Messrs Campbell and Ledlie; auditor, Mr A. Robertson; green supervisor, Mr W. M'Kenzie. { Club prizes were presented as follow; , —Senior championship, J. J • Read;; junior championship, W. Bennett; handicap singles, J. Mooney; rinks—Call, j W. Wilson, Barnes, Irvine (s). I A prize of a sot of howls presented by Mr J. H. Spencer to _ the member, winning the senior championship twice in succession or three times at nitcivals was won by Mr J* J. Road. Regarding the Saturday club games, the delegates to the centre were instructed to support the idea of playing on every possible occasion, but in view of the busy nature of ,the coining season to vote against the fonr-nuk competition, which, if carried on, should be played in the evening. Ibey were Mven a free hand regarding the motion that every club bo represented on the Centre Executive. _ , After a lively discussion as to the possibility of playing nine rinks in the interclub competition it was decided to be on the safe side and enter six. The subscription was fixed at £o, reducible to £2 15s if paid by December The meeting terminated with votes of thanks to the president, the selectors, and the Press.
