CROSS-COUNTRY RUN. CAVER SHAM SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP. Yesterday afternoon the pupils of the Caversham School hold their annual race for the Memorial Cup presented by the Caversham Harrier Club. Some ninety competitors faced the starter (Mr James Brown). The race was for a. distance, of approximately a mile over a trail, sot by Messrs J. Tap]) and C. Heaton, along Ranfnrly street from College street, across Playfair street down John street, crossing the park from the tennis courts to Hazel avenue and down Playfair street to the starting point. Watty Henderson (the winner) ran a. very solid and welljudged race, and arrived home closely followed by James Cranston and Gordon APDougall. Air Brown afterwards presented the cup to Watt Henderson, who will also receive a gold medal, while James Cranston will receive a silver one. Mr Brown referred to the enthusiasm shown, and thanked the schoolmaster and officials for the efficient way they had enabled the race to be run. Amongst those present to conduct the rare were Messrs James Brown (vice-president Caversham Harriers), G. Palmer (head master Caversham School), (1. White, I). Todd, D. S. M'Pherson (Caversham School Committee), J. Tapp, C. Heaton, H. Emerson, 0. Hcbhard (Caversham Harriers), CHRISTCHURCH HUNT RACES. First Line (10.5) was omitted from the, handicaps for the Hnmeby Steeplechase at the Christchurch Hunt meeting on Saturday next. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING.
