AMENDED RAILWAY TARIFF
A FEiIOIHG PROTEST [Pee United Frees Association.) FEILDING, July 21. The Feilding Chamber of Commerce last night considered the amended railway tariff. Special attention was given to the proposed increase in the charge for carriage of frozen meat, which would penalise inland freezing works, and the following motion was carried: —“This chamber desires to point, out to tho Railway Board that the proposed increase in the rate for the carriage of frozen meat will haye > a disastrous effect on the Feilding freezing works and other works similarly established in country districts. The chamber therefore urges that no increase lie made on the present charges.” The chamber also discussed the proposed increase in the rate for tho carriage of chaff, and adopted a resolution that the proposed increase would be detrimental! to the interests of farmers in tho district, who were now barely able to compote against importations from Australia and the Auckland market.
