WIDOW WINS APPEAL. AN ECHO OF THE WAR.. LONDON, Juno 15. The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council to-day decided in favor of Mrs Jacob, a widow, in her appeal against the Indian High Court’s reversal of a breach of promise verdict for 35,000 rupees (£3,500) which she secured against David Wills, a wealthy Calcutta merchant. Mrs Jacob, whoso parents wore German., was wrongly interned in India during the war as a suspected spy, but the Government later paid her 20,000 rupees (£2,000) ps compensat'd!. She complained that this interment caused.her separation from a rich lover, who married another woman.
