CALEDONIAN CLUB The annual meeting of the above club was hold in the pavilion on Saturday night, when there was a fair number present. Mr J. Abbott presided. The annual report stated that- the committee congratulated members on a very successful season. In August last Mr J. Abbott, senior vice-president, was unanimously elected to fill the position of president, rendered vacant by Mr D. Trainor’s death. Mrs Greensladq had agreed to accept the position of patroness of the club. The committee, after due consideration, decided to reduce the number of rinks from fifteen to twelve in the Saturday interclub matches, owing to the difficulty experienced in previous years of fulfilling engagements. The club had again won the centre’s banner. This was the sixth year in succession, and reflected credit on the members’ loyalty to their selector (Mr A. M'Donald), who was thanked for his splendid work during the season. The club did not manage to retain the Feathers for the four-rink championship, this honor being wrested from it by the St. Clair Club, who' also beat your club in the final of the champion rinks. The committee congratulated Messrs A. Summered and 0. Tillie (s) on winning the Christmas Doubles, after a close’ and strenuous game with two of their clubmatcs, Mcsrs J. Hamilton and W. Latham (s)also Mr W. Foster on winning the singles competition at the Easter tournament at Oamaru. The greenkeeper (Mr John Ogg) still continued to supply a green second to none in the dominion. During the season extra locker accommodation was provided by extending the bowlhouse. The club extended its heartiest thanks to Mrs F. Greonslado (patroness) for her continued generosity in presenting the rinks prize (Greenslade Ferns), and also first prize for champion doubles; and to the following members who donated prizes J. Abbott (gold medal), C. Lyng, M. Elliott, J. H. F. Hamel, V. Langley, A. Summered, F. Evans, H. T. Andrews, P. Boulton, W. Latham, 11. C. Procter, and T. Henaghan.Although the receipts from the billiard table showed a slight falling-off, the table still provided a considerable source of revenue and enjoyment lor the members. The club thanked the Social Committee, the ladies who attended Saturday after Saturday to dispense the refreshments, and the Ties Committee for the manner in which thev got the different competitions off. flic Chairman briefly moved the adoption of the report. He alluded to t lie regret felt by members at the loss hv death of Messrs D. Trainer, 11, Powley, and W. Glassc, also by the tiansference of Mr J. Hungcrford. Although the balance-sheet showed a deficit for the season of £ls odd, it had to be remembered that £53 had been spent in building improvements, and there was nothing in the balancesheet to be down-hearted about. As a matter of fact, the chib’s finances would compare favorably with any club in the district. The thanks of members were duo to Messrs A. Boss (who had acted as green supervisor in Mr Foster’s absence), J. Hamilton (chairman of Social Committee), and J. Ogg ( preen keeper). Mr J. If. F. Hamel seconded the adoption of the report, contonting him-
