SALE OF ABANDONED FARMS. Seven soldiers’ farms which had been abandoned w-ere offered for sale by auction at Balclutha on Friday afternoon, and were all disposed of under the hammer except one. Great interest was taken in the sale, and the prices realised were considered very- satisfactory. The farms had all been revalued by the District Revaluation Committee, hut in several instances the prices realised were considerably above the *“ upset ” values. Mr Torrens (assistant secretary to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, thmedin) was the auctioneer for the occasion, and there was a crowd of between 2CO and 300 extending right into the street.
