She will complete, loading at those ports for Wellington and Wanganui. , ine City, of Madras sailed this after' noon for Wanganui, New-Plymouth, and Portland to continue discharge of her New York cargo. The Ripa arrived to-day from Lyttelton. She is to sail to-morrow night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Calm is due from Bluff about May I. and to sail the same day for T.mavu, Lyttelton, Wellington, and uanganiii. The Canadian Conqueror w;,s to sail late this afternoon or at cayhght to-morrow morning for Bluff. The Wanaka is due to-morrow morning from Bluff. She is scheduled to sad to-morrow evening for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Tho Opihi will sail on Thursday for Port Chalmere to load the Marama’s cargo for Wellington. The Waikouaiti was to leave Sydney to-day for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Timaru. The Kahika is due about the end of the week from Groyimmli and Westport. The Wingatui is to leave Lyttelton tomorrow for Dunedin. She is due or. Thursday, and after dischaigo wnl dock at Port Chalmers for survey. The \essel will return to Dunedin on .Saturday or Monday to load out for Oamaru. Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. 'Thu Raranga , from Liverpool via northern ports, will come up to Dunedin on to-morrow morning’s tide, and this v< c-t-el will he followed by the City of BristN, from New York via norther nports. The Suffolk will go to p ort Chalme/s to-morrow morning to load frozen meat for England. She should sail about Thursday evening for New Plymouth. The Port Augusta (A.C. and D. Line vessel) is due from Lyttelton 10-morrow to unload about 450k.J/Ons of general New York cargo, and to load ballast before proceeding to Port Kembla. The Hertford, from United Kingdom ports, arrived at Auckland this morning. She is due at Dunedin in about throo weeks’ time.. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Wahine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.30 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the first express. ATHENIC'S PASSENGERS. Robertson, Aliss AI. Wishart; and 357 third class. AIANUKA FROM MELBOURNE. The Union Company’s steamer Manuka is expected to arrive at Bluff from Melhourne at 5,30 this evening. She will leave that port at midnight for Dunedin, and is due to arrive early to-morrow afternoon. Tho vessel is expected to sail in the evening for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Melbourne.

C. AND D. PORT DUNEDIN. The Importers and Shippers’ Association has been informed that the Commonwealth and Dominion Line's new motor ship, Port Dunedin, is lo sail from London on June 24, direct for Dunedin. It is anticipated that tliis ship will be the first to initiate a regular monthly service in which,South Island ports will bo called at before northern ports. The vessel should arrive early in August. NEW SHIPS FOR UNION COMPANY. At the present time there are six now ships being built for the Union Company at various places in England. Tho largest, is the Otokia, a twin screw motor oil-tanker of 10,000 tons capacity, being built at the Hull yard of -Messrs Livingstone and Cooper. Her engines will lie of tho Sulzer type, made at Winterthur, in Switzerland. She is expected to bo ready for service in eight months’ lime. A twinscrew reciprocating engined steamer, with Diesel electric auxiliaries, is under construction at Walls end-oii-Tyue by Messrs Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson. This vessel, which will accommodate, between 600 and 700 passengers, is intended for the Picton-Wellington service. The Northumberland Shipbuilding Company is building a cargo steamer of 2,000 tons carrying capacity, lo be fitted with insulated holds; and colliers of 2,600 tons dead-weight are being cm structcd for the Union Company by Mpsms Williait Gray and Co., of West Hartlepool. CANADIAN SAILINGS. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the following steamers have been chartered to load Eastern Canadian cargo for New Zealand ports:— The Doonholm was due at Sydney (Cape Breton) on April 22 for loading, and is expected to clear Montreal about May 10 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Ticnieia is to follow the Doonholm, and is scheduled to sail on June 10 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. THE WEST NIVARIA. The i-Swayne and Hoyte Lino steamer West Nivaria, which arrived at from San Francisco on Tuesday night, (bV'har-mH a small quantity- of explosives before berthing lo unload case oil, lumber, and general cargo. The vessel's cargo consisted of about 3,500,000 feet of timber, 37,000 cases of oil, and 400 tons of general merchandise, as well ns sixty-five yellow- taxis for Melbourne. The cargo was loaded at Portland, Gray's Harbor, Seattle, Tecoma, Vancouver, and San Francisco, and the steamer cleared the Californian port on March 26. The West Nivaria brought 900,0CX) feet of lumber, 2/,000 caees of oil. and‘3oo tons of general merchandise for Auckland. The remainder of the, cargo is for Wellington, Adelaide, AI elbourne, and Sydney.
