RESTORATION FEND GROWING. STRONG COMMITTEE APPOINTED. Frees Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 27. 1 The Times' fund for the restoration of St. Paul's has now reached £195,722. General Bramwell Booth sent. £259. collected by the Salvation Army headquarters. A. conference to discuss the danger o{ St. Paul’s dome, has appointed a committee to deal with the matter, consisting of (ho Doan and Chapter, trustees of the, fabric of the Cathedral, an architect, with expert, advisers, one each nominated by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, the Institute of British Architects, and the Institute of Civil Engineers, plus four fo opted men of recognised standing. The Lord Mayor' nf London, on being interviewed, declared that, if the grouting process were carried nut. the present piers would last another 200 years. There, was not the slightest doubt that grouting would bo effective. No one need fear that the dome would collapse if tho work were expeditiously performed. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
