RAILWAY APPOINTMENT

Mr Gilbert Lynde, formerly of the Great Central Railway, will sail on March 12 next to. take up the position of Chief Mechanical Engineer of the New Zealand Railways.—A. and N.Z. Cable. APPOINTMENT CONFIRMED. [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 28. The Hon. ,1. G. Coates (Minister of Railways) to-night confirmed the cablegram regarding the appointment of Mr Lynde a.s Chief .Mechanical Engineer. Mr Coates said that the appointment had be,en mado on the, recommendation of the, recent Railway Commission and Sir John Aspinall (representative of the, Now Zealand Railways in London). Applications were called for in New Zealand and abroad. Mr Lynde will take up his duties immediately on his arrival.
