Adam, ,E. Longwortli, R. Teller, and J. IV. Hove. TIP CAUSING NUISANCE. The Medical Oflicor of Health, Dunedin, wrote stating that complaints had been made as to a nuisance, from smell and flics from the tip near Moreau street, which was jointly used by the City Council and the Borough Council. One of the inspectors had submit led a report on the matter, and had expressed the view that the nuisance was due to the large amount of trade waste, a big proportion of which consisted of organic matter. The medical oiliccr considered that some more effective method would have to be used in disposing of the trade waste.—'The Mayor said that until such tame as a destructor was provided there was no oilier way of disposing of the refuse. The matter had been fixed up in the meantime.—The matter was left at that. A HARDSHIP. Mr T. D. Clarkson wrote in regard to his having to pay £lO per annum for (he disposal of his trade refuse, asking the assistance of (lie council in alleviating the existing position. He had, he said, to pay the Domain Board for the right to deposit the refuse, and he was already paying.£l4 in borough rates. —Councillors considered that there was some hardship about the ease, and it was decided that the mayor should discuss the matter with tiio Domain Board. Twenty (wo ratepayers wrote asking for a light at the corner of Mills street and Bay View road. A lady had been molested. and there was a real need for another light.—The matter was left over till next meeting. The foreman’s report was adopted, and it was decided to authorise him to get quotations for 100 casks of tar. A recommendation of the Works Committee, that the kerbing of Driver street be gone on with immediately, was adopted. Tn accordance with the recommendation of the Works, Water, and Lighting Committee, it was decided to proceed with the work of reticulating with water Bowen, Islington, Alfred, Ferguson, and Quarry streets, and Alton avenue.
