RIFLE SHOOTING

BRUCE v. EAITANGATA, Tiio annual match between the Bruce and Kaitangaia Defence Rifle Clubs was fired at Milton on Saturday under ideal weather conditions, and after a very closcly-con tested shoot Bruce won by 1 point. The teams were strongly representative, and comprised thirteen men a side, three lowest counted out, and seven shots (sightors optional) were fired at 500yds and 500yds. For iho winners Riflemen M. E. Paul and Jas. F. ilalba topped the score with an aggregate of 62 points each, whilst Deputypresident W, Carson and Rifleman W. Johnson headed the list for the visitors (64 each), the latter registering the creditable score of 34 at 500yds. Rifleman Jno. Ilalba (Bruce), who shot with an unreliable rifle at the shorter range, borrowed another at the longer distance, and had the satisfaction of putting on a. possible. Scores: — —Bruce.—
