SNEAK THIEVES
DEPREDATIONS IN WELLINGTON.
[Pke United Press Association.]
WELLINGTON, August 18,
A gang of sneak thieves have evidently been operating in the city. A visitor from Sydney at one of tho big residential hotels was relieved of an extensive wardrobe and money, the tourist being left with only what he stood in. Fortunately the money taken was a small amount, as the visitor had not yet lifted a supply from the bank. In one of the suburbs a resident went off for the week-end, and left tho tool-house unlocked. When he returned all the contents were gone. As the place is in view of the neighbors all day, tho thieves evidently made a nocturnal visit. Other similar occurrences are reported, and householders’ slogan now is, “ Lock doors.” Good watchdogs are also in demamL
