Their Excellencies Vismunt and Viscountess Jeilicoe have arranged to leave Wellington to-morrow on a. visit to Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay On Wednesday they will attend a. gathering of Maoris near Hastings in honor of Sir James Carroll, and on Thursday they will leave Napier by motor for Gisborne, where they will fulfil a variety of engagements on Friday and Saturday. On their return To Napier their Excellencies will have further engagements on the 25th and 26th lust., a'visit to Hastings being included. His Excellency will return to Wellington on the 27th, and Her Excellency on the following day after performing the opening of tho now parish hall at Masterlon.— Wellington Tress Association telegrn'm. Mr Percy Shaw, formerly of Dunedin, wlio for some years past has been manager of the boot department, of Alcssrs Sargood, Son, and Ewen’s business in Auckland, has been appointed manager of their Invercargill branch. Staying at the Grand Hotel are Miss K. Hughes and Alias Hughes (Invercargill), Air T. Adair (Gisborne), Air E. Wright (Sydney), Air E. V. James (Wellington), and Air and Airs AI. J. Russell (Christchurch). New guests at the Excelsior Hotel are Air W. Brice (Milton), Air 11. Bell (Wellington), Air A. W. Clarkson (Alastcrton), auci Aliss E. Alacnivcn and Mr E. Groomo (Hastings). Our Clyde correspondent telegraphs that prior to liis departure for Milburn on transfer. Air S. Kinraid, a popular member of the railway clerical staff at Omakau, was entertained at a. -social and presented with a well-filled purse. The presentation was made by Air Taylor Cannon, who referred in complimentary terms to the guest’s many good qualities, both as an officer and a private citizen. At the conclusion of the morning service in Knox Church yesterday occasion was taken by the members of the choir to express to Air W. Paget Gale, choirmaster, their congratulations upon the fa.ct of his appointment as choirmaster at the Dunedin and South Seas Exhibition, and wished him every success in his work. Air Gale suitably responded. The death is announced by cable from London of Lord Nunburnholme, who served in tho South African War, where ho gained the D. 5.0., and in the European War.
