DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club’s thirty-sixth annual meeting was held in Mr G. Speight’s office last evening, Mr G. C. Proudfoot occupying the chair. The annual report showed that the club had had a very successful year. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £2B 15s sd. The championship was won by Rifleman Miller, who scored 721 points. Rifleman Gillan (712 points) was runner-up, and was followed by Rifleman Graham (710 points) and Rifleman Mackie (708 points). Matches had been fired between the Kaiiangata and Kiwi Clubs. Kiwi won the match on their range, and Kaitangata won the match fired on their range, but the club won the return match on their own range. The Otago Rifle Association held a meeting at which competitors were very enthusiastic. .Seventeen members represented the club, Rifleman Graham (Dunedin Club) coming fourth in the championship. The club was second in the .Ladies’ Challenge Shield. Three members visited tho Dominion Rifle Association meeting at Trentham, and three competed at the Army meeting. The committee suggested that tho season bo commenced on Saturday, August 25. The report was adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted: Hon. president, Mr A. J. Shaw; _ hon. vice-president, Mr 0. Speight; president, Dir G. O. Proudfoot; deputy-president, Mr J. T. Gillan; treasurer, Mr R, M. Greenslad?; secretary, Mr W. Bannerman ; committee —Messrs G. C. Proudfoot, J. T. Gillan, R. Greenslade, W. Bannerman, Riflemen Dippie, Mackie, and Miller; Shooting Committee—Riflemen Bannerman, Mackie. and Dippie. It was stated that the club was still without a range of its own, b'U. that several sites had been suggested.
