FRUIT AND PRODUCE
Bray Bros. (Dunedin), Ltd., report as follows for the week ended to-day;— Supplies of chaff are coming forward from the Canterbury district, and good quality is now short of supply, and is offering round about £8 ss, ex truck Dunedin, and everything points to the market still firming. There is very little chaff offering from Southland. The oat market is keeping steady, and any good lines offering aio readily placed at fair prices. The demand for feed oats is easier. The nominal quotation for shipping is 6s 3d, f.0.b., e.i., for IPs and 6s 6d for A’s. Sales have been made a.t these figures. Mot many oats now remain in first hand, and veryfew are in stores. The market for milling wheat is steady, and a shipment is expected this month by the Waimarino. The fowl wheat market continues steady. Good sound wheat is saleable up to 6s 6d on trucks, and there is very little offering for shipping. North Island merchants are filling their requirements from Australia. Bran in particular is short of supply. Dunedin millers’ prices are as follow Flour, £ls 10s; bran, £6; pollard, £7; oatmeal, £3O. The potato market is keeping steady. The latest quote from Lyttelton is round about £5 per ton, f.0.b., s.i. This price is for f.a.q. potatoes. It is difficult to obtain good white tables suitable for the local trade. Only small parcels are obtainable, and these are worth up to £7 10s on the market. The onion market is firm. The Moeraki brought a shipment, and most of these have been placed round about 20s per cwt. The quality of the shipment was first class. Business has been fair in the fruit marts during the week. Most lines have been short of supply. Australia!-, navel oranges and mandarins came forward to a bare market. There is a good demand for cooking apples, and these are worth up to 10s per case. Best dessert apples are worth up to 16s. A splendid line of Australian navel oranges came forward, .and were sold up to 27s 6d per case. A few bananas came forward, and the market is bare. Cabbage and cauliflower are still short of supply, and any lines coming forward are readily placed. The market is well supplied with swedes, carrots, and parsnips. Lettuce is starling to come forward more freely. The market is better supplied with eggs, and prices have cased. Honey has a better inquiry, and any good lines offering are readily placed round about per lb. The cheese market is also firmer. There is a good steady demand for all sound lines of produce, fruit, and vegetables. The following prices were realised during the week : Chaff. —Prime oaten, £8 to £8 10s. Straw.—Oaten, £5; wheaten, £4. Wheat.—Fowl, 6s 6d. Beeswax, Is 6d. Honey.—Bulk, s|d; 101 b tins, 6s 6d; £lb pats, 4s 3d dozen. Cheese, 9d to lOd. Hams, Is 2d. Bacon.—Hitchon’s, Is Id.

Onions.—Melbourne, £2O. Walnuts, 8d to lOd. Carrots, 6s cwt. Swedes, 3s 6d cwt. Parsnips, 8s 6d cwt. Cauliflowers.—Firsts ,10s to 12s dozen. Cabbage, 4s 6d to 9s. Lettuce, Is 6d to 2s. Rhubarb, 2d. Tomatoes.— Local, Is to 2s. Pigs—Best porkers, 6£d to 7d; baconers, 7d; overweight, 3J,d. Eggs.—Stamped, Is 4d.
