VALUABLE TIMBER DESTROYED. [Pep. United Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, July 19. A disastrous fire, resulting in heavy damage, occurred at tho Torstonson, Ltd.’, timber mill at an early hour this morning. On tho arrival of the brigade the llamcs had a -good hold, and, despite strenuous efforts by the brigade, the main portion of the premises was completely destroyed, along with 40,000 ft of jeineiy -..iinber and much valuable machinery. The origin is unknown. Four years ago the original factory on tho site, then owned by Messrs Soiiitt Bros., Ltd., was destroyed. The ruins are still smouldering. The insurances are £l,lBO on the timber in tho building 'destroyed.
