TM AID OF WATER-LEY ORPHANAGE. A very fine concert programme was submitted i'n tlm South Dunedin Town Hall last, evening before a packed house. Hie object- wa-s to procure funds with which to provide boots for the children ni Waverley Orphanage. Mr -1. Hade was the organiser. The hall was well lighted, and was daintily decorated with festoons and flags.

Among the most, pleasing items were the humorous recitations of Miss Minkel and Mr Allan Aiming and the rendition o f 'Alton Water' l-v Air Sid. Tavlor (tenon, though each item won the wannest plaudits. Airs A. Tower war (he accompanist, and Air D. AlTvav the piper. A dance followed, LETT IT BOWL'XG AMD GRnQEET CUT., In an endeavor to raise sufficient funds to provide new lawns, the Leith Bowling and Croquet Club last, evening held a enneert in (.be George Street. School Hall. The greens arc To be laid in the Woodhaugh Gardens. 'There was a large attendance, and as a result the project, of the drib should bo well advanced. The items given were diversified and entertaining. A?ter a few remarks by Hie chairman, the mavor 'Mr H. L. Tapir v) gave a short introductory address and wished the club every success in its efforts to obtain playing areas.
