MESSRS MALCOLM AND REED. [Per United Phess Association.] WELLINGTON, June 24. The Prime Minister stated to-day that the. two appointees to the Legislative Council were Mr Alexander Scott Malcolm, formerly member for Clufcha, and Mr Herbert Vernon Peed, formerly member for tho Bay of Islands. Mr Malcolm represented tho Clullia electorate, for eighteen years in the Uou.se of Kepresentali ves, and fur many years past had been Chairman of Committees of tho House. He was defeated at the 1922 ekalion, and does not desire to become a candidate, again for a seat in tho Lower .House.

Mr Vernon Reed, who was also defeated at the last General Election, bad

served for fourteen yours in all in the lloii'e <.f Representatives.
