(Received dune 23, at. 10,55 a.m.) There- were 700 passengers aboard the Mctogama when she collided with the Clara Camus. Both vessels were seriously damaged. The Metagama bus arrived, and is in dock. Tho Clam Camus was beached. The Metagama"s passengers tc.Jl a story of wonderful seamanship. Gubins were stove in, but fortunately the occupants were, at breakfast. The. passengers rushed on deck us the craft, was sent reeling by a heavy blow on the. starboard side.. Tho captain immediately flooded the port, ballast tanks, listing tho ship over so ns In raise the gaping hole on the. starboard side out of the water. The passengers behaved splendidly, a mess hoy playing the bagpipes as the big ship heeled over at a dangerous, angle. The captain’s prompt action saved the vessel from foundering.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
