TEST CRICKET
PARKIS’S STRONG COMMENTS. SORE AT BEING OVERLOOKED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 22. Parkin, in his weekly article in tho newspaper ‘ Dispatch,’ caused a sensation in cricket circles by his strong comments upon Giiligan’s failure to use him on the last morning of tho South African test. Ho says that, while Gilligau made many changes in tho bowling, lie, standing at mid-off, wondered why lie was overlooked, and how ho had got the top bowling average this season. Ho never felt so humiliated in the whole of his cricket career. He adds: “I can take the rough with the smooth with anybody, but I cannot stand being treated as on Tuesday. I should not ‘bo fair to myself if I accepted an invitation to play "in any further test, not that I expect to receive an invitation.” Gilligan declined tho ‘ Dispatch’s ’ request to discuss tho matter, simply saying : “ Parkin is entitled to his comments, as lam to mine. That’s all lam going to say.”—‘ Snn ’ Cable.
