For the purpose of giving effect lo the proposed Works Council a meeting of representatives of the employers and ira.de unions, presided over by Mr W. Lumi, was held til \\ cmblcy to-day, but an agreement was not reached. An official statement says that (lie proposal to establish a council was fully discussed. Several employers signified their willingness to accept the council, provided it w;is thoroughly representative; hut, as the decision was not unanimous, it was impossible Lo aruve at an agreement.— llcuter.
