Furniture, drapery, and the extensive premises were destroyed. There are conflicting reports regarding the extent of the damage. Fifteen shops and other premises adjacent to Clark’s were partially destroyed, bringing the approximate damage considerably higher than was previously estimated (£80,000). FATAL BURNS. SYDNEY, January 14. The suburban hush fires continued during the week-end. They caused considerable damage. While endeavoring to extinguish an outbreak at their home in Waverley, Mrs Overtide and her daughter were so severely burned that both had to be sent to hospital, where the former died.
