CHURCH OF CHRIST
As a basis for the sermon delivered by Mr J. J. Fmnklyn in the Church of Christ last evening, he took Romans x., 1-3; “ Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. For I boar them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” There were three harriers, Mr Franklyn stated, that had to be broken down before the Jews and the whole Gentile world could bo saved of tho Lord. These were ignorance of God’s righteousness, the self-will which kept men away from Christ, and flat rebellion against the righteousness of God. According to the Word of God, ignorance was tho mother of error; but Christ was made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Not a denial of God, but a multiplication of gods, had been tho trouble with the world. Man had tho power to say no to high heaven; but if he would have forgiveness, peace, and joy in life, and eternal life, lie must learn the right ways of God, cease to trust in his own righteousness, and submit to the righteousness of God by opening his life to tho incoming of tho Saviour of man.
