BOARD TO CONSIDER POSITION,
At last night’s meeting of the Otago Harbor Board, Mr H. C. raid that cablegrams had recently appeared in the newspapers regarding complaints Hint had been made re shinning . ha; rs in tho dominion. He understood that other harbor hoards had ooo.j-oi.o , charges, hut he did not know whether tho Otago Board had done so. In 1921 dues had hwn lau-ed. The time had come, Mr (,'aninhsanl, when they would have (•> put th.r.r rates in the same ratio as regards expends as other ports in the dominion. He ioii.d not suggest offhand what the rates should he, but ho moved that the foil -wing sub-committee should he set up, and draw no a report Captain liinifh-t rum, and Messrs Dickson, Ramsay, Loudon, Mollcr, and the mover.
Mr Campbell added (hat Wellington wins eontemp.ating a good reduction. The Wellington hoard’s reserve rnnv stood at £95,000, and it was hoped that in a month or two it, would be i.LOO/,o'}.
Tho motion was seconded by Mr Keith Ramsay and adopted.
