PEKING, July 24. Chinese bandits near Chiuho, m the Yunnan Province, have captured Mr iJ’Arcy Wetherby, a British mining engineer.
Steamers arriving at, lehang (the head of .steamer navigation on the Yangtso River) report that American and British steamers, under the escort of the American gunboat Monocao, were .subjected to heavy fire near (Jhuiig-king. The gunboat returned the lire, indicting heavy damage.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
