The demand was good for finished stock, and prices were firm at Inst week’s top rates, with a Is advance in some instances. There was a slight easing tendency, however, towards the dose of the sale. ‘Extra. prime heavyweight wethers realised up k>_ 60s 3d; prime, 4-Is to 47s 6d ; medium, 36s to 40s; light and unfinished soils, 31s to 355. Extra prime heavy-weight ewes realised up to 40s 9d-; prime, 30s to 36s 6d ; medium, 25s to 28s: light and aged from 21« upwards. One truck of hoggets was offered, which realised about 30« pew head. There was a small yarding of fat cattle, numbering only 166 head. With the exception of two "or three pons of prime bullocks, the qualify wag not up to the usual standard. The entry was not sufficient for butchers’ requirements, and it was expected that prices would show an advance of fully £1 per head. A medium yarding of store cattle was offered, which included several pens of good four and . fivc-year-Md bullocks from the Central Otago district, "lany of these were purchased by butchers, host ‘ bullocks realising up to £7 5s per head. A line of throe-year-old bullocks realised up to £5 ss, two-year-olds £5, and cjood yearlings from £2 Zs to £3 per head. Vcrv few good cow’s and heifers were forward, and those offered sold at advanced rales. Young cattle in backward condition showed no improvement in price. Tho yarding of pigs was not a large one. There was a good demand, especially for prime baconers, which realised enhanced prices. Values for prime baconers were on a basis of 7Jd, and for prime porkers about Bd per lb,
