SUDDEN DEATH ON TIUMCAR. Passengers on an early morning car from Normanby to-day were shocked to seo an elderly man fall dead from his eeafc as the car approached Frederick street. It Avas subsequently ascertained that the deceased Avas James Brown, aged about sixty-five years, residing at 14 Frame street, North-east Valley. die, boarded the car presumably for the purpose of coming into his work, and at the point stated bent forward and expired. Dr Fulton examined tho body almost at once and pronounced life extinct. DcC'«sod is said to have been laid up for a few days with an attack of influenza, but has not boon attended by a. doctor for somo years. An inquest was held this afternoon. BODY FOUND IN RIVER. [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, July 24. Tho inquest on the unidentified body found in the river some weeks ago was reopened to-day. Three witnesses from Wellington gave evidence that they believed from tho photograph of leceased that he was a man named Ernest Randall. who came from tho Old Country ami resided for a time in Wellington and also in Auckland, Jlo worked on ITa trick and Co.’s boats here. Tho inquest was further adjourned.
