(Received July 24, at 11.5 a.m.) The sugar crop for 1923 is estimated to be 240,000 tons, which, with the New South Wales cane and Victorian beet sugar, will make a total of 258,000 tons for Australia. Queensland’s crop in 1922 was 283,000 tons. FUNDS FOR OLYMPIC TEAM. MELBOURNE, July 24. (Received July 24, at 11.5 a.m.) The Commonwealth. Government Las promised to donate £3,000 towards the expenses of the Australian Olympic team if the Olympic Federation raises the remaining £IO,OOO necessary. The Government will give a sum pro rata if the £lo,oolj is not raised. INFLUENZA, EPIDEMIC. SYDNEY, July 24. (Received July 24, at 11.5 a.m.) Influenza is raging at Glen Lines. The nurses are worked to a standstill, and the relief work is falling chiefly on probationers.
