SERVICE IN ST. PAUL’S.

COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ CHOIR

A special service was hold in St. Paul's Cathedral yesterday afternoon, the offertory at which was to ho devoted to tho funds of the G.F.S. Hostel (non-sec-tarian). The Commercial Travellers’ Choir and Orchestra, under the baton cf Mr Goo. Scott (conductor), provided the musical portion, assisted by tho Cathedral organist, Mr E. Hey wood. The Rev. Canon Ne.vill gave an impressive address, faking liis text from Ist Corinthians, verse xiii, “ But now ahideth faith, hope, and love, those throe; and tho greatest of these is love.” Before commencing, the canon warmly thanked the choir and orchestra for assisting, and

afterwards extended a cordial welcome to (he members from the matron to visit the host'/. The following musicn! items were rendered (‘ Watchman, What of the Night?’ being particularly well snug) Organ voluntary, Mr E. Hey wood; hymn, ‘All People that on Earth do Dwell,’ choir and congregation; ‘ Creation’s Hymn,’ choir; hymn, ‘ Lead, Kindly Light,’ choir and congregation; hymn, ‘Hark, Hark, My Soul,’ choir and congregation; ‘ Watchman, 'What of the Night?’ choir; ‘ March of (he Prophets,’ orchestra; hymn, ‘ Abide With Me,’ choir and congregation; retiring voluntary, Mr E. ITeywood.
