MYSTERIES OF LIFE

ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT,

MEDICAL MAN’S VIEWS.

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.

LONDON, July 21. A new theory of man’s origin was expounded at the Surgeons’ Congress by Dr Criio, of Cleveland, Ohio, who said that the origin of all life forms is the atom of hydrogen with negative electrons. Man and animals .are electro-chemical mechanisms, constructed on the pattern of the constituent cells. Each cell in itself is an, electro-chemical mechanism. In other words, man is a collection of countless millions of chemical flames working out still further evolution in connection with tho surrounding electric forces. “Following that theory,” said Dr Crile, “ tho brain is the positive pole, tho liver is tho negative. Tho nerves are the connecting wires. Tho function of the liver is of foremost importance in this hypothesis, and tho effects of that organ on the brain arc apparent. The theory explains the interference with digestion by strong emotions, such as pain, and 1 also the failure of health under the etress of chromic fear, anger, or other strong emotions. It also explains the essential function of sleep ae a period wherein tho difference in potential in the batteries which drive the organ- 1 ism is restored after being decreased by fcho day’# activities."—A. and N.Z.
