DUNEDIN POULTRY CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho Dunedin Utility Poultry Club held its annual meeting on Thursday evening, Mr T. H. Dalton, occupying tho chair. The Chairman said that',the club had been the means of instruction to many of the members, and ho thought that much benefit had been gained from the addresses given during the year. The amount of information imparted during discussions and question nights was very considerable, and Mr Sprosen especially had been a groat help by answering questions. In one particular, the club had done good work, and that was in the education of judges. Three of the mem-bers—-Messrs F. G. Hanson, J. J. Jowsey, and R, ML Coombes—-had been brought forward, and had judged at shows, giving very great satisfaction. Mr Dalton congratulated tho secretary on the state of the club’s finances.

The following is a summary of the annual report “ Tho year commenced with a balance of 6s 6d, and now stood at £l4 14s Bd, and this notwithstanding that over £5 had to bo paid on tho previous year’s working expenses. A donation of two guineas had been made to the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club also. During the year the club had inaugurated two 10-guinea trophies, each to be won three times, one to be competed for at the March Young Bird Show and at the Dunedin Fanciers’ .Tune Show : one for light breeds, in which Mr H. L. Sprosen had gained two wins; and the third for heavy breeds, Mr F. G. Hanson and Mr T. H. Dalton each having won it once. During tho year one of the members lost part of his poultry plant by fire, and the club had raised by subscription the sum of £9 14s 6d for his assistance.”—Tho report was adopted. The election of office hearers resulted as follows :—Patrons, Mr H. P. Harvey and Mr Robert Mills; president, Mr T. 11. Dalton; vice-presidents—Messrs R. W. Coombes. F. G. Hanson, H. L, Sprosen, J. Rattigan, and P. Shacklock ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. V. Stunner; committee —Mrs V. M. Hazlowood, and Messrs J. Sanders, J. J. Jowsey, Morris Hill, and J. Crooks. It was decided to hbld the monthly meetings on the last Thursday in each month.

A vote of sympathy was accorded Mr Robert Mills on the death of his mother.

Mr Coombes gave notice to move at the next meeting that the minute referring to gold medals in connection with tho 10-gninen trophies passed at last meeting be rescinded.

It was decided to hold a committee meeting to arrange a syllabus for tho year.
