The Arbitration Court'gave judgment to-day on the question id whether wage* must be paid for Anzac ■ Day under the award. The Inspector o Awards apneaWi against the magistrate's decision in a case against the Federal Hoot Company, of Wellington. The magistrate held that Anzac ay, being a Sunday, and wages being computed under the award on an hourly basis, the defendants were net bound to pay journeymen for Anzac Day, ami could ‘deduct the amount of that day’s wages, and judgment was^ given accordingly for the defendants Mr Justice Frazer said that in the courts opinion the judgment was sound in law 7 , and that the appeal must tad. e added that 'if Anzac Day were observed on a Sunday no difficulty would occur.
