Tho Washington correspondent of the ‘New York Times’ states that officials of tho Harding Administration have expressed satisfaction at tho Lausanne settlement, especially regarding as an American diplomatic victory tho non-inclusion of Dio Turkish Petroleum Company’s claims in the treaty. Tim United States is prepared to proceed sparately in negotiations with Groat Britain- concerning Die company's chums to a, monopoly of the oilfields in Mesopotamia. It is understood that Mr Hughes feels gratified at the fact that the treaty will assure an open door in Mesopotamia, and that ho is prepared, to defeat any attempt to exclude Americans from participation in the development of these oilfields.—A. and N.Z.
