NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND. Thcro aro three games in the first round of the New Zealand Amateur Billiards Championship, play in which commences in tho Returned Soldiers’ Club on Tuesday next. Tho players drawn for tho first round are all local men, and will meet as follows:— 1 R. Fraser v. A. Lindsay, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. E. A. Walsh v. E. N. Stewart, at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday. C. Mason v. H. G. Siedoberg, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Byes:—G. Howison (Dunedin), H. V. Roberts (Auckland), W. Smith (Christchurch), F. Anderson (Dunedin), and W. R. Howard (Mosgiel). The tournament is expected to occupy about six days. Tho large number of byes in the first round is accounted for by the fact that it is necessary to arrange matters so that there will not be a bye in tho semi-final. The sessions will bo 750 up, with tho exception of the final, which will bo of 2,000 up, played in throe sessions.
