APPLICATION TO STRIKE OFF POLLS

[Per United Press Association.] Tho Court of Appeal heard argument this morning in the case of an application by the Auckland District Law Society to strike off tho roll of barristers and solicitors Archibald Lyon Demiiston, of Auckland. The ground of the application was an allegation that judgment had been obtained against Demiiston in the Magistrate’s Court for £153 7s Id, such sum being trust money received by Demiiston on behalf of a client, and that such money had not been paid over to his client. Mr Von Haast, who appeared for Ihe Law Society, said it was clear that Demiiston had not kept in his trust account a proper amount to meet the liability of £153 7s Id. Mr Johnston, for Denniston, said that bis client’s position was duo to tho defalcations of his accountant. Tho application was adjourned till to-morrow.—Welling-ton message.
