LABOR PARTY AND OAMARU ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—There is a. strong rumor .about that (lie Labor Parly intends to nominate a candidate for the forthcoming election, practically in opposition to Air Macphcrsun. .a man who honestly won the seat, against- Mr Lee, a member of the Massey CovenirmTit. If it does so, it will show a want of tact and business ability on (ho leader’s part, as well as a poor spirit. Mr Macpherson only won the seat by fourteen votes against the whole strength of the Reform Government. Now, if (die vote is split up Mr Lee will virtually have a walk-over. Surely, after the way the Liberal candidate lias been treated and put to great expense, the least the Labor Party can do is to h-(, him have a straightout- fight with Mr Lee. T am quite sure that if Mr Macpherson loses the On mam seat through any ill-advised action by thn loaders of their par'y a heavy blow will be struck against (he prestige of the Labor Party in New Zealand.—l am, etc,, Lir.KiiAi.-LAtini!
