MR MASLIN AND HOSPITAL SEPARATION.

TO THE KDITOB.

Sir, —Mr Maslin’s record, as revealed by “Argus” in yesterday’s ‘Star,’ reminds me of the man who wanted to attend a certain dance. Refused admission, he persisted and was thrown downstairs. Ho arose, brushed himself, and tried again. A second time h© was thrown downstairs. Twice more he recovered his hat, brushed the dust from his clothes, and sought admission, but with exactly the same result. After ; uie fourth repulse eonjetbieg began*

Ito dawn upon him. He went to the man at the door. “ I say, old chap,” said he, “ don’tvou really want mo at this tlanoo?” It would have been better for all concerned if the realisation that his stylo of dancing did nob meet with approval had dawned upon Mr Mari in before he ret oiit on hia present vote-splitting activities. But to got down to a more serious matter. Is it not a foot, air, that Mr Mariln was, a few short months ago, very prominent in tho South Otago Hospital separation movement? I seem te remember him as one of tho instigators of tho movement and as or.o of the deputation which went to Wellington and waited upon tho Government in connection with the matter. I imagine, then, that tho electors of a Dunedin constituency will give short shrift te a man who fathered such a disastrous scheme as that, a scheme that has cast upon the ratepayers of our city an extra burden of thousands per annum. I have not noticed whether Mr Mnslin has advertised this as one of hia many achievements. Perhaps bo has repented!—for the time being. But surely electors are not likely to forget such ja blunder.—l am, etc., Taxed, I November 29.
