The Hon. W. F. Massey, who ha* entered on a busy election campaign in the South Island, does not expect to be bads in Wellington, until after election day (December 7). Dr T. Harrison left to-dav for ijmairu, where ho intends to take up residence, and later enter into practice. Sir Robert Stout and Sir George Fenwick left for Camara this morning to take part in the ceremony of unveiling the memorial bo the late Hon. George Jones. Dr J. P. Frengley, Deputy DirectorGeneral of Health, was a passenger for Christchurch by the express to-day. Mr C. 0. White left for Wellington this morning. Yesterday amt to-day Dunedin members of tho Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand left for Christchurch to attend the ceremony of installing Viscount Jellicco ’As Grand Master. Mr N. S. Falla, .general traffic manager for the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived in Dunedin, last night from Wellington. He is on a business visit, and returns north by to-morrow’s express. Miss Marcia E. Morris, on the staff of Stirling School, has been recommended for an appointment at the Moroington School. In a letter from. London at tie end of September Dr Cleary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland", writers: “I am again in London by arrangement for further consultation with my medical advisors. The improvement in health lias been very great indeed, but I get from time to time indications Dial recovery is not yet by any means complete, and that, further rest and treatment are required.”

The death has occurred at Auckland of Mr Louis Heray Neumegen, aged eighty-five years. Deceased came to Melbourne in 1855, andf the gold rush at Gabriel’s Gully. Otago, brought him to tho dominion. Deceased was a Mason.

A Sydney Press Association cable message announces the death of Mr Dougald Thomson, formerly Minister of Homo Affairs in the Federal Parliament. A London cable announces the deathof Mrs Alice Movnell, poet ana. essayist. Fho was the wife of Mr Wilfrid MejneH and a sister of Lady Butler, painter of ‘The Roll Call.’ _ Her collected poems had a great success in 1913. Miss Isabel Balk, who has been in the United States for the last three years, and took her degree as Doctor of Chiropractic there, is returning to the_ dominion by the s.s. Tahiti, due in Wellington on Saturday.
