JUVENILE BURGLARS

A THOROUGH WHIPPING. [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, October 7. Two boys, tho bead of a juvenilt burglars’ club,'members of which had admitted several robberies and the accumulation of a remarkable collection representative of tho “profession,” appeared in the Police -Court for sentence to-day. Tbo accused wore 14 and 12j years of ago respectively, and the sons of respectable parents. Their career of crime was attributed to tho reading of much cheap, trashy literature. Mr Wilson, S.M., said that both- boys must receive a good thrashing, and be could not order it without recording- a conviction, which ho was reluctant to do. Ho wanted an assurance that tbo boys would get a thorough whipping by someone competent to do it, and ho adjourned the caaa for a fortnight, with the suggestion that such punishment should bo inflicted by t-hp parents in the presence of tho probation officer. [Only yesterday some particulars of this club were published.]
