PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY

The Philharmonic Society’s third concert this season will be held in His Majesty’s Theatre on September 5, when the programme will include ‘ March of the Gnomes’ (Squarise), overture ‘Cleopatra,’ the ‘Fifth Symphony in B Flat_ Major’ (bv Glazonnow), ‘Minuet in G* (Beethoven), and ‘Pizzicato’ (Squire). The violin solo ‘ Concerto Fantasia,’ an excerpt from the opera ‘La Figlia del Regimento’ (Donizetti], will be performed, the solo violinist being Mr Max Levy. Another attractive item will be the ‘Pastorale,’ in which the oboe solo will be played bv Mr H. F. Pairman. The vocalists will be Miss Betty Baird and Mr W. Gommell.
