Church-goers are not unfamiliar with Stainer’s ‘ Crucifixionbut not many opportunities are given them to become acquainted with this composer s ‘Daughter of Jairus,’ which is to be given to-morrow evening as part ot the usual service at the Moray Place Congregational Church. btainor s genius seems to run to _ the portrayal of sacred themes in music. His coloris beautiful, and lie never loses the dignity of his subject. The big chorus ■tifc tlio dose, 1 80 jEvorlHstmg Pinisc, is in fugal style, and works up to a groat finale. Miss Emily Foster will sing tho soprano music, Mr T. Bacliop the tenor, and Mr H. A. M Allum the bass, while Mr Roy Don is at the oro-an. The conducting is m tne hands oA-Ir Wm. Gcmmell. Tho Rev. Wm. Saunders, who has been absent for several Sundays through indisposition, will take the service. _____
