An attempt by the “wot” forces to wreak vengeance upon Mr Volstead (member of the House of Representatives and author of the law enforcing the Eighteenth Amendment) was defeated when the House, by a vote of 141 to 3, struck from the records a resolution calling upon Mr Volstead to resign because of alleged help given to him during the Last election by the Anti-Saloon League.—A. and N.Z.
