RHODESIA AND THE UNION.
CAPE TOWN, August 21 General Smuts has concluded a three weeks’ tour in Rhodesia, where ho had an enthusiastic reception. In a speech ho emphasised that while he would welcome Rhodesia into the Union, the decision was entirely in the Rhodesians’ own hands. No attempt woidcl bo made to influence them. It is evident that the. Premier made a great impression, and it is believed his visit had greatly strengthened the prospects of union.—A. and H.Z. Cable
