GOLF IN AMERICA. . At New London, Connecticut, Duncan and Mitchell (England) defeated Kirkwood -(Australia) and Hagen (U.S.A.I over thirty-, six holes, 3 ,np and 2 to. play.—A. and N.Z. Cable. BOXING CENTRES: TIMARU AGGRIEVED. The Timani Boxing Association strongly „rotests against the proposal to change the lystem of the control of hoxing as suggested at the Auckland Conference, by which there will .be only three centres in the South Island—namely. Canterbury, Otago, and Westland—the Timaru Centre losing its identity. It was decided to fight strenuously the adoption of the proposal, it being pointed out. that Timaru was a crowing centre in sport, and- for the New Zealand championships holds the second 1 highest financial returns on record, while the recent island championships, held for the first time there (Timaru), had l a higher return than any North Island association. WRESTLING. An Auckland wire reports:—At the Town Hall last evening M. Sunni, of Dargaville, defeated G. Modrich, of Auckland, in a wrestling match in five fast five-minute- bouts. Modrich forfeited the match owing to his right shoulder being badly strained.
